Caribbean Sea Turtle Service Trip

Conservation work with sea turtles

Spend several nights at a remote sea turtle project patrolling the beach in search of nesting leatherbacks and hatchlings, explore local canals for wildlife, visit a butterfly farm and local school. At the end of the week, relax on a white sand beach before heading back towards the central valley and home.

The Highlights:

  • Patrol the beaches for nesting Leatherback turtles, tag turtles, conduct population studies and transplant eggs to a protected area.
  • During the day, release hatchlings into the sea and explore the local canals for wildlife.   You’ll also participate in volunteer activities such as building a hatchery or cleaning the beach of debris.
  • Relax on the white sand beach and swim in the warm Caribbean ocean of Cahuita National Park.
