Sergio Diaz

Guide

Sergio was born in May 1972 and grew up in Tibás, San José. He is the youngest of 6 siblings and had a “beautiful childhood.” His friends have called him “Checho” since he was in elementary school. On his days off, he enjoys jogging. He is a soccer fanatic and loves to read about History. His son Marcel and his daughter Taubeth are his inspiration. And he loves his cat named Blanco!

Sergio studied Tourism and Business Administration and has been a professor at the Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje (INA). During 2008, 2010, and 2020, he taught future tour guides the guiding skills and ethics for those working in tourism and oversaw their Internship program. He worked as an Operations Manager for different hotels on both coasts of Costa Rica. In 2017 he obtained his license as a professional tour guide.

“Guiding is my passion; I like to share information that people can remember…Before guiding, I had heard about Herencia Verde, and the ideas and projects of the company always caught my attention. When Herencia Verde hired me, I realized that it is a quite different tourism company. It is very educational, and I love teaching others. I carry a teacher within me!”

Checho is working to improve his German language skills. His dream is to visit someday the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.
